    Here’s how quickly the skies are getting darker each day in Denver

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — On Sunday, the sun set at 8 p.m. By Monday, it began to set before 8 p.m., and it’s only getting darker from here.

    This year, Denver had about 15 hours of sunlight on the longest day of the year , with the sun setting around 8:30 p.m. on June 20. On the shortest day of the year last winter, Denver only had about nine hours of daylight , with the sun setting after 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.

    How much daylight will Denver have on the longest day of 2024?

    Now that Denver’s longest day of the year in June has come and gone, the skies of the Mile High City are getting darker sooner, slowly heading toward the shortest day of the year again in December.

    While there’s still a long way to go for the sun to set as early as around 4:30 p.m. in Denver, August is getting noticeably darker.

    In August, the sun is setting about one to two minutes earlier every day, based on Time and Date records.

    While this isn’t a lot of time comparatively, it adds up by the end of August.

    At the start of August, the sun was setting after 8 p.m. By Aug. 12, the sun began setting before 8 p.m. At the end of August, the sun will set around 7:30 p.m.

    All in all, it’s slowly getting darker, with about a minute or two of sunlight taken away each day. By mid-September, the sun will set before 7 p.m.
