ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – Denver police say they’ve shut down a fentanyl pill press operation, but when they first arrived on the scene neighbors were unsure what was happening.

Several streets in an Arapahoe County neighborhood were shut down around 6 a.m. Wednesday when DPD, South Metro Fire Rescue and the sheriff’s department all arrived at the scene.

Officers say they went to a home where FOX31 learned they were conducting a search warrant for a narcotics investigation including fentanyl.

This police activity was taking place not far from an elementary school and people were worried.

Neighbors said they heard loudspeakers and saw SMFR setting up a decontamination station due to hazmat concerns.

These crews were out of sight and around the corner from the home in the 4100 block of South Kirk Court near East Princeton Avenue where Denver’s major narcotics unit was executing a search warrant.

Some neighbors contacted FOX31 asking for help learning more about the police investigation.

“I was real confused. At first, I thought it was a fireman training for like something to do in the neighborhood because it was kind of hard to hear what they were saying through the speakers and while I was in my house,” Michael Mekdem said.

About five hours after the investigation started, police began re-opening streets in the area

After the search, DPD issued a release saying that the search came after a months-long investigation. Four adults were “contacted” at the home, although DPD said there were no arrests.
