DENVER ( KDVR ) — A man was killed in a single-vehicle fiery crash in Brighton on Friday.

The Brighton Police Department said the crash happened at around 11:15 p.m. on Highway 85 near Bromley Lane, east of the Todd Creek community.

Following an investigation, police said a man was driving an Audi Q7 southbound on Highway 85 when the car left the roadway, hit an embankment and rolled. Police said the vehicle caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived.

The man was the only person in the car and he was pronounced dead on scene.

The Brighton Police Department Traffic Safety Unit believes speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The unit also said the man was not wearing a seatbelt.

    The investigation is ongoing.
