Berthoud vineyard with 20-year-old grapevines for sale

DENVER ( KDVR ) — A Berthoud winery known as Blue Mountain Vineyards is on the market for $3.75 million, a property that holds a two-story house, private lakes and some grapevines over 20 years old.

The vineyard lies against the foothills of the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Rocky Mountain National Park with a view of a reserve and many trails around the property.

The property was built in 1997 and holds some vines that are almost 27 years old. Like fine wine, the vineyard also aged well, as the tasting room has been in business for nearly 18 years, according to the listing brokers Keith Kanemoto with RE/MAX Elevate and Joe Knight with RE/MAX Nexus.

FOX31’s Dan Daru toured the property with the current owner Bill Prewitt, a Vietnam veteran who learned to make wine and has since been in the industry for 27 years.

“We’re starting to creep into our 80s and, gosh, I just don’t think I can keep it up the way I’d like,” said Prewitt.

The vineyard is listed for $3.75 million as a three-bed with a winery, 6 acres of grapes, three acres of formal gardens, partial ownership of a private lake with over 700 feet of frontage and partial ownership of a second 2-acre lake in back of property, according to CommercialSearch .
