18-year-old Smithville man killed in Liberty crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Liberty Police Department is investigating a crash that left a Smithville, Missouri teen dead and another person seriously injured early Sunday morning.

According to the police department , officers were dispatched to the scene of a two-car crash near the intersection of Highway 291 and North Ash Avenue.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a Cadillac CTS4 was traveling northbound on the highway before it drove into the road’s southbound lanes, hitting a Honda Pilot.

Liberty police said the driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and the driver of the Cadillac, 18-year-old Brandon Durossette, was also taken to a hospital. He later died from his injuries.

According to officers, the crash remains under investigation.
