    Two hospitalized after house fire in Prairie Village, Kansas

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people are in the hospital after a fire trapped them inside a home on Friday night, according to the Johnson County MED-ACT.

    Crews with MED-ACT, Consolidated Fire District #2 and Shawnee Fire Department were called to a home near Roe Boulevard and 64th Terrace in Prairie Village, Kansas just before midnight on Friday.

    Upon arrival, crews were told by 911 that people were trapped inside the home. This resulted in four ambulances being sent to the scene.

    MED-ACT reported that four patients were cared for and two were sent to a hospital.

    A 60-year-old man and a 9-year-old boy were treated on the scene and refused to be taken to a hospital.

    However, an 86-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were taken to a hospital for minor smoke inhalation. The 40-year-old also received a minor burn to one of his arms.

    The cause of the fire has not been revealed.
