    Mesa city treasurer arrested by Franklin County detectives for allegedly misusing government funds

    FRANKLIN CO., Wash. -- Franklin County Detectives said the City of Mesa's Treasurer was arrested for allegedly misusing government funds.

    According to officials, Charmain Halverson, 50, of Lind, was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of theft, injury to public record, misappropriation by treasurer, and official misconduct.

    Officials said Halverson accumulated nearly $10,000 in unauthorized purchases with government funds for personal items while treasurer.

    According to officials, this is the second City of Mesa employee to be arrested on suspicion of theft related charges in the last three years.
