Citing a 30% blood donation shortfall during the Fourth of July holiday week, and overall low donor turnout this summer, nonprofit blood services provider Vitalant is facing an emergency shortage of type O blood. JACKSON — The Jackson Town Council approved 21 townhomes on South Park Loop Road after the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole voluntarily offered to deed-restrict all of the units. One townhome will be deed restricted as affordable with income eligibility limits to meet the town’s requirement to offset new development by building housing or paying an affordable housing fee. A Good Boy Heads Into Retirement
ROCK SPRINGS – It’s said that every dog has his day, and for Max, the retiring Rock Springs Police Department Officer, it was Tuesday with the Rock Springs City Council. According to a letter from RSPD Chief of Police Bill Erspamer, one of the reasons for Max’s retirement is that he’s gotten slower and sniffing out drugs has become a strenuous activity for him. The eight-year-old dog appeared to act like a puppy as he saw and greeted new and familiar faces at City Hall. Max momentarily jumped up and sat between Officer Jason Wright and Officer Ken Davis as his handler, Officer Ruslan Kolb, took him toward the Council. Max and Kolb were presented with a shadowbox with Max’s gear, which included his badge, collar, and other items.

ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Community College announced the launch of another technical career program, this one focusing on electrical substations. The college launched its new substation technician program, which it says is designed to meet growing demands for professionals in the energy industry. The program aims to teach students with knowledge and hands-on experience to work in the substation technology industry. Enrollment in the program is open and the first classes are scheduled to start during the upcoming fall semester.
