MaKenna Prather signs to play at next level
MaKenna Prather, a dual sport athlete for Columbus, has signed to continue her softball career with Park University in Gilbert, Arizona where she will join the team as an infielder. The Lady Buccaneers, a private NAIA team who recently moved into the Great Southwest Athletic Conference, finished their 2024 campaign with a 13-10 conference record (19-29 overall). Prather’s love of softball has included eight years of summer travel ball to go along with her four years playing high school ball as a member of the Stillwater Renegades. Her dedication and leadership landed her a captain role this season for the Renegades, where she brought her experience and athleticism to an underclassmen-heavy team. A three-year letter winner, Prather played third base for the Renegades and finished the season with an amazing .493 batting average. Her skill and hard work earned her a First Team All-Conference honor. Prather was also a valued member of the Lady Cougar basketball team, who finished second this year in the District 4B tournament and made an appearance at the Southern B Divisional tournament.
