FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – One person was injured Tuesday morning after allegedly attempting to make homemade fireworks, which caused a fire in Fresno, according to the Fresno Fire Department.

Firefighters say on Tuesday morning, they were called to the 4500 block of W Palo Alto Ave., for a reported apartment fire. There were multiple 911 calls that reported smoke and flames coming from the patio of a two-story building.

According to firefighters, the fire was quickly knocked down by Engine 14 and they prevented the fire from spreading beyond the patio.

Firefighters say one occupant was injured and required treatment for burns. Fire investigators identified that an occupant was attempting to make homemade fireworks, which accidentally caused the fire.
