Elite four-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III announced his commitment to the Florida Gators on Sunday evening. The 5-foot-11, 173-pound wide receiver committed to the Gators over Miami, Ohio State, and Florida State.

Brown, a native of Orlando, Florida, recorded an impressive 70 receptions for 1,363 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in his junior season with Jones High School (FL). Brown also doubled as a return specialist, scoring four touchdowns (three punt return touchdowns and one kick return).

Brown is the No. 33 overall prospect and No. 6 wide receiver in the class of 2025. He also ranks as the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 5 prospect in Florida, according to On3's Industry Rankings .

Following Brown's commitment, Florida's 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 31 nationally and No. 13 in the SEC. He will join a Gators 2025 class that includes four-star defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins, wide receiver Joshua Moore, and running back Waltez Clark.

The addition of Brown to the Gators brings the program to 11 pledges and gives head coach Billy Napier another much-needed cornerstone receiver as he attempts to re-establish the Gators among the top programs in the SEC.

Brown's father, Vernell Brown II, was a defensive back for the Gators from 2001-05 and served a variety of off-field roles within the program from 2018 to 2023. He is now the manager for former Gators' quarterback and current Indianapolis Colts star, Anthony Richardson.
