Florida 4-star WR commit Joshua Moore’s recruitment is far from over, and Miami Hurricanes continue big push

Pembroke Pines (Fla.) four-star receiver Joshua Moore committed to Florida in late June, but his recruitment isn’t over. Especially if the Gators fall short of the fanbase’s expectations this fall.

Moore is continuing to consider Miami and Florida State, where he took official visits to this summer, and is still hearing out both programs. The No. 57 overall prospect in the On300 and No. 9 receiver in the 2025 cycle said he feels good about his commitment to the Gators, is happy with his decision to pull the trigger June 26 and even thinks Florida will beat Miami 24-21 in the season opener. But he’s plenty aware of the pressure on Florida head coach Billy Napier to win this season.

Moore said he won’t be directly looking at wins and losses this fall with the Gators, said his main focus will be on receiver production and still believes other teams will need to “beat them out” both on and off the field to flip him. But he’s aware of what could happen if disaster strikes.

“If they go out there and go 2-8 or completely fumble the bag, (wins and losses could factor into a decision),” Moore said.

Or what if Napier is fired after this season if the Gators disappoint, or if his departure appears imminent?

“Then if it’s like that, then (I’ve) got to choose another school,” Moore said.

However, Miami isn’t simply sitting back and hoping the Gators fail this fall in order to get Moore. The Hurricanes are still working to flip him without being reliant on external factors.

“They’re just really telling me the things they can do for me and the things I can do for them,” Moore said. “I can help their program, and they can help me in a good way. (Kevin Beard), he’s just building a better relationship with me and getting to know me better so he can know how to coach me up.”

Moore said he’ll also pay close attention to Miami’s receiver production this year and freshman wideout Joshisa Trader, who was the Hurricanes highest-rated receiver signee in the 2024 class. He said freshman production will play a factor in how he views programs as well.

    CaneSport’s Take

Miami is still alive for Moore, which we’ve known since he committed, and will work to get him down to Coral Gables for a game this fall. Miami is very much in this, and I’ll like the chances far more if the Hurricanes put together a 10-win, College Football Playoff-worthy season. I believe his recruitment will ultimately come down to the Hurricanes and Gators.
