After a strong experience at Florida during the spring, 4-star offensive lineman Johnnie Jones is ready to set foot in the Swamp once again.

Luckily for both parties, a return trip is scheduled for the Gators’ season opener against Miami. That trip on Aug. 31 will mark the rising junior’s fourth trip to Gainesville.

Jones, a 2026 prospect from Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep, is the No. 175 prospect and No. 16 offensive tackle in the On3 Industry Ranking , a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting companies.

“I don’t have a list (of top schools). I treat all schools with the same amount of respect, but I will say they are one of the schools I like based off the skill and development of players,” Jones said of UF when speaking with Gators Online. “The work ethic and knowledge from the o-line coaches is now rubbing off on the players.”

Johnnie Jones is high on Florida’s OL board

For Jones, another plus on the Florida Gators’ side is the amount of attention they show.

Multiple staff members have been making their presence felt since June 15, with co-offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster being one of them. Communication with Florida has been seamless and consistent.

“It’s strong,” Jones said of the relationship. “It’s coach Dre and (quality control – offensive line) coach Kaleb (Johnson) I talk to coach Kaleb pretty much on a day-to-day basis about how my day is going and how the workout is going.

“I’ll say the relationship with all the coaches is smooth and strong. I’m able to talk to them about anything. The person I text most is probably Chirp (co-offensive line coach John Decoster ). We talk about what other schools are contacting and things I’m doing at my school. I can talk about anything I need to.”

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine , Florida holds the slight advantage over Georgia. Those leading odds are at 34.4 percent, followed by the Bulldogs at 30.1

In addition to those SEC schools, Jones holds offers from Miami, Auburn, Penn State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri and UCF among others. Jones’ uncle is former Hurricanes defensive lineman Baraka Atkins .
