Galloway man in state prison gets eight more years in two drug cases

A Galloway Township man already in state prison was sentenced to another eight years in two drug cases Tuesday.

Matthew Lynch, 34, pleaded guilty in April to two drug cases from 2022 .

He was arrested June 21, 2022, after warranted searches led to digital scales commonly used for weighing drugs for sale, along with $1,482 in cash believed to be from drug deals.

An investigation found he sold more than a half-ounce each of heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine from that May until June.

Lynch has just gotten out of prison March 13, 2022, on robbery and drug charges from 2016 . He was on parole.

He was released on an ankle bracelet, but arrested again in Nov. 30, 2022, after he and a co-defendant were accused of brandishing a gun during a road rage incident .

Co-defendant, Kalief Lyons, was the one who had the gun, Lynch's attorney argued at a detention hearing at the time . Lyons has since pleaded in that case, BreakingAC confirmed.

Lynch's guilty plea included admitting to possession of 52 wax folds in that case.

Both men were sent back to prison that December as a result of their parole violations.

Lyons was released this Feb. 12, and is set to be sentenced in the gun case May 28.

Lynch remains in East Jersey State Prison in Rahway, Union County, where his maximum release date was March 13, 2027, prior to Tuesday's sentencing.
