DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A former teacher and coach in DeKalb County faces a slew of felony charges after police determined he allegedly pretended to be a younger male model and catfished teenage girls on social media over the course of nearly five years.

Brody Dixon, 37, of Garrett is accused of communicating with girls on Snapchat, using an alias and recording their conversations, which contained footage of the girls exposing themselves.

Dixon was most recently a teacher and coach at Garrett High School until he was initially suspended in May. According to the court documents, he also taught at DeKalb High School.

At first, Dixon faced only one charge of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony.

But the allegations have mounted based on a search warrant that led investigators to Dixon’s iCloud account.

DeKalb Superior Court documents filed at the end of June show Dixon is now charged with six Level 6 felony counts of possession of child pornography and two Level 5 felony counts of possession of child pornography. He also faces charges of child solicitation, vicarious sexual gratification, and two counts of child exploitation, all Level 5 felonies.

A detective wrote in court documents Dixon is believed to have committed those acts from September 2019 to May 31, 2024.

On Dixon’s iCloud account, police found thousands of videos and images, many of which contained child porn, according to court documents. In particular, the court documents noted seven videos and a collage of images contained an array of child porn content depicting girls between ages 8-16 who were recorded during sex acts.

Police also found recorded Snapchat conversations from September 2019 to April 2020 depicting sexual images and videos of girls.

Investigators spoke with two women who were between 15 and 16 years old at the time of the Snapchat conversations, along with other former students and underage girls Dixon was connected to on social media. According to court documents, none of the women recalled speaking with Dixon in a sexual or flirtatious manner.

Investigators determined Dixon had catfished the girls using photos and videos of a younger male model.

Investigators came to that conclusion “based off the content located in Brody’s iCloud account, his professional position employed at DeKalb High School during his time and interaction with the victims, and the information provided by witnesses which were in a position to be credible and have the detailed knowledge,” the detective wrote in court documents.

Dixon has a pretrial conference set for August, along with a hearing on a motion to modify the bond, which was set at $10,000 in May.
