Three teenagers who were supposed to be preparing for the new school year have instead been charged as adults in connection with the shooting death of 64-year-old Mursal Jama, as reported by KETV.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night at an apartment complex near 94th Plaza and Cady Court, and a report revealed that during a court appearance on Friday morning, Trenton Titsworth-Hunt, 17, Talan Wilson, 16, and Joseph Keyes, 14, were held without bond.

In addition to these three, two younger juveniles, aged 11 and 13, are also implicated in the murder. Due to their ages, the 13-year-old cannot be charged as an adult, and the 11-year-old cannot be detained under Nebraska law.

"It is an odd grouping and when you think about the different ages of the individuals involved in it, it's kind of that, group mentality," said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine during an interview.

What Reportedly Happened: Keyes, the youngest of the charged trio, apparently faces multiple weighty charges, including first-degree murder. Titsworth-Hunt and Wilson have also been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited minor.

According to prosecutors, the sequence of events began when a group of six individuals attempted to steal a car from two victims, ultimately escaping with a wallet and cash.

CCTV footage captured the incident. Hours later, Jama, who was working as an Uber driver, was carjacked and shot in his garage near 93rd and Cady Streets. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.

Notably, KETV reported that Titsworth-Hunt has been on probation since May, while Wilson, who has a history of legal issues, was reportedly on the run at the time of his arrest.

Wilson's charges include criminal homicide and robbery, alongside additional counts related to weapon possession.

The identities of these minors have not been disclosed.
