The SEC has become a wide-open league since the addition of the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns. Georgia has been the dominant team in the conference since 2021, winning two of the three SEC Championship Games. However, in Nick Saban's final SEC championship, Alabama defeated the Bulldogs last season.

Texas is considered a strong contender for the title this year, following its win in the Big 12 championship last season and its appearance in the College Football Playoff. Additionally, Alabama and Ole Miss are attracting significant attention as contending teams.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum expressed his opinion on the conference winner, predicting Georgia would win, with the Longhorns coming in a close second.

"I'm with Georgia," Finebaum said. "I think Texas would be the second best. I don't fault anybody for picking Texas."

ESPN's Football Power Index agrees with Finebaum. The FPI ranks Georgia and Texas first and second, respectively. It gives the Bulldogs a 32.8% chance to win the conference and a 79.1% chance of making the College Football Playoff.

Georgia has the best chance in the SEC to reach and win the 2024 national championship game. Georgia will remain at the top of the league until the Bulldogs are dethroned.
