Commitments have been rolling in all summer, and there are still more to come, but unless there is a big change, one won’t be from four-star linebacker Ty Jackson . From the beginning of his recruitment, he has planned to take his recruitment into the season and likely not make a decision until around Signing Day in December.

    That hasn’t changed.

“The plan is still the same,” Jackson told On3. “I will watch how the teams play this season and that will definitely be something that will help me make my decision. I want to watch how the staff works, how the players operate, who is leaving, who is staying and just see how things play out with the teams on my list.”

Jackson has a list of 10 schools. Alabama , Florida , Florida State , Georgia , Miami , Oklahoma , Penn State , Syracuse , Tennessee and Texas A&M made the initial cut in May and nothing has changed.

“Before cutting the list down again, I want to see how teams play this season. Maybe around the middle of the season, I will start breaking things down from where I am right now. For now, my list is still the same.”

When it comes to make that decision, Jackson said, “Relationships are important and who can develop me as a man on and off the field. Player development will be very important to me too.”

Florida, Florida State and Miami want to keep Jackson at home

Jackson has taken official visits to Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Penn State. He could add more, but he just has one set for the fall and that is to Florida State. He is expected in Tallahassee right before the early signing period on Nov. 29.

“Coach Randy Shannon and I have a good relationship,” Jackson said. “He is a great guy and he has a group chat with me and my parents. Keeping the connection with him close is something nice about Florida State. We have built a great bond.”

The only school Jackson visited during the open period late in July was Florida. The No. 82 prospect was back in Gainesville last weekend for the Grill in the Ville.

“I have been to Florida five or six times now and I just want to keep building a great relationship with coach Austin Armstrong . It was good to be there for the cookout. We played games, had a cookout and it was nice to get back on campus.”

Jackson will be back for the season opener when the Gators host Miami. The Hurricanes have three linebackers committed, but Derek Nicholson remains in contact with Jackson.

“I like the staff at Miami. Coach Derek Nicholson stays in contact and I want to see how they play this season.”
