The Gilbert Police Department is closing a round of applications to the department June 30.

The department says it is interested in applicants looking to use their  communication skills, dedication, and drive to bolster its work force, and serve the town's residents.

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited via email to participate in a testing process during the month following their application.

Those interested should carefully review the "Background Guidelines and Disqualifiers" section on the town website section to determine eligibility.

After reviewing the position postings, potential applicants can complete the appropriate Recruit Officer or Lateral Officer application (including the Arizona POST Personal History Form).

After submitting an application, the applicant will receive a confirmation email from  noreply@governmentjobs.com. Applicants are advised not to submit multiple applications during one recruitment and check their email spam folder if they do not receive the email confirmation.

Applicants must visit azpost.okta.com to create an AZ POST Form ID. This number must be entered in the application.

Applicants should remember to dress professionally and have a photograph identification card available for all stages of the testing process.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age by completion of the police academy, be a U.S. citizen prior to appointment and pass vison and hearing levels as determined by an AZ POST certified physician.

A fitness test applies in which the applicant must demonstrate he or she can do 36 sit-ups within one minute, 20 untimed push-ups and run 1.5 miles with 15 minutes, 48 seconds.

The current officer pay scale runs from $31.98 to $45.01 per hour. Additional compensation and benefits apply and there are multiple career paths in the department.

Follow the department on social media for the most up to date information.
