    Stovetop Apple Cobbler

Creating a delicious stovetop apple cobbler is as easy as apple pie! This is such a simple but delightful dessert to make. Everyone will be wanting a second helping!

    Ingredients:

    • 4 large apples (I used red delicious)
    • 4 tablespoons of butter
    • 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 cup to 1 cup of granulated Splenda, or sugar; you can also use Splenda brown sugar blend or regular brown sugar.

    • 2 1/2 cups of Krusteaz baking mix
    • 1/2 cup of milk or water

    • 1/4 cup of extra water to add after the apples are cooked tender

    Instructions:

First, wash, core, and slice your apples. Slice the apples thinly. You can also peel your apples if you desire.

Melt the butter over medium heat in a cast-iron skillet. Then add the sliced apples and cook them until they are soft, slightly browned, and fork-tender.

Sprinkle the cinnamon and granulated Splenda, or sugar, over the apples while they are cooking. Stir well.

Meanwhile, in a bowl, add 2 1/2 cups of Krusteaz baking mix, 1/2 cup of milk, or water. Mix just until the mixture becomes a thick, pourable dough. If needed, add extra liquid. I also added a pinch of ground cinnamon to my batter.

Once the apple slices are cooked to your preference, pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet.

Next, spoon or pour the batter over the top of the apple mixture. Then spread it out evenly. Cover the skillet with a lid. The steam will rise up and cook the top of the cobbler. Alternatively, you can place the cobbler in the oven to bake for about 15 to 20 minutes instead of cooking it on the stovetop.

If you've chosen to cook your cobbler on the stovetop, once the top is no longer doughy and cooked through, place a large round plate on top of the cobbler. Then carefully turn the cobbler out on the plate. Once it's flipped over, slide the cobbler back into the hot skillet to brown the cake part for only a few minutes, or you can serve it as is.

    Enjoy!
