Western Maricopa Education Center, a career and technical education  public school district in the West Valley with its headquarters in Glendale, has launched a new partnership with Grand Canyon University to support students looking to further their education with a bachelor of applied science.

GCU will consider eligible dual enrollment coursework and achieved certifications to help West-MEC program completers jumpstart their college career. This specialized pathway will help students potentially decrease the time it takes them to complete their bachelor’s degree.

“The goal of CTE is to give students a faster way forward in continuing education by providing unique career pathways,” stated West-MEC Superintendent Scott Spurgeon in a press release. “Our partnership with GCU will allow students to advance in their education while developing career related skills and growing their professional networks.”

West-MEC also has longstanding partnerships with Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, Universal Technical Institute and a variety of Maricopa Community Colleges that offer dual enrollment programs to its students.

Through these partnerships, students are able to receive fast-track opportunities to a degree in post-secondary education.

West-MEC serves more than 45,000 students from 49 high schools across 3,800 square miles in the northern and western cities of the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

West_MEC's Central Campus is at 6997 N Glen Harbor Blvd., Glendale.
