LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - No one is reported to be hurt following a structure fire in La Crosse. According to a press release from the La Crosse Fire Department, on July 25, 2024, at 4:35 p.m., the La Crosse Fire Department responded to 721 Rose Street for a report of a structure fire.
More layoffs at freight-related firms: 607 workers cut across 4 states
Layoffs continue across the commercial transportation and freight industry, according to a new round of worker reduction notices in Florida, Texas, Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the second round of layoffs since the beginning of July. Averitt Express, Bath & Body Works Logistics Services, ShipBob, and Henry Avocado Corp. announced a total of 218 layoffs earlier in the month.
Flash Flooding Possible in Northern Minnesota This Weekend
Duluth, MN – Northern Minnesota is on alert for potential flash flooding this weekend as heavy rains are forecasted to hit the region. Storms & Heat Saturday... Another First Alert Weather Day
FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY - SATURDAY: A few showers and storms may still be around in the early morning hours. Morning lows will once again be warm ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s. While afternoon highs won’t be as sizzlin’ as Friday, it will still be toasty in the southern Valley and parts of NW MN with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. It will still be humid as well, so we are looking at a heat index in the 90s. Storms will likely develop once again in the afternoon into the evening. There is a chance for storms to be severe with wind gusts to 60 mph and hail up to an inch in diameter. An isolated tornado risk is once again possible as well. Remain weather aware!
Several Strong to Severe Storm Chances This Weekend
It is another weekend of back to back to back chances for storms of which some could be on the strong to severe side. Like past weekends there will be a lot of dry hours and some locations won’t see showers or storms. Most chances will come through the evenings and overnight with an exception for Sunday which may start earlier in the afternoon and move into Sunday night.

Temperatures will peak in the upper 80s most days along with some lower 90s. Dew points will rise to the upper 60s and lower 70s making for many steamy days in a row.
