2 early goals fuel Indiana women’s soccer to second win of the season
In its second game of the 2024 campaign, Indiana women’s soccer got off to a flaming hot start against Ball State University. It began with a goal from sophomore midfielder Kennedy Neighbors, just one game after she recorded her first goal as a Hoosier. The goal came in the fourth minute with a play by freshman forward Layla Sirdah who found Neighbors between the defenders on the run. Neighbors received the pass through defenders which was followed by her dribbling into the 18-yard box then striking the ball into the left side of the net.
IU Eskenazi Students To Showcase Rural Placemaking Studio Designs August 27
Comprehensive design students from the IU Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design will showcase their innovative designs for rural southern Indiana communities from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, at The Mill at 642 N. Madison Street in Bloomington. The event is presented by the Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement and the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design.
Bloomington Man Found Safe Following Swift Cancellation of Silver Alert
Community concern was eased when the Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Larry Wayne Henderson, the 75-year-old Bloomington man reported missing, was found safe. A Silver Alert, a public notification system to broadcast information about missing persons – especially senior citizens with Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, or other mental disabilities – was issued when Henderson disappeared on August 21 but was swiftly cancelled upon his safe recovery.

Bloomington closes Rail Trail encampments, adds homelessness coordinator in 2025 budget
Another homeless encampment has been cleared in Bloomington, this time along the Rail Trail south of Country Club Drive and North of Gordon Pike. At a news conference in the first week of August, Bloomington mayor Kerry Thomson said that the encampments along the Rail Trail, which had 30-day notices posted towards early July, were still on course for removal “in the next couple of weeks.”
