After a difficult start to the season due to a number of road games, the Graham High School tennis team has strung together three straight wins in a row at home.

The Steers and Lady Blues recently defeated Glen Rose and Brownwood in separate matches to move their season record to 4-5.

Graham’s team defeated Bridgeport and had a week of preparation for their match Thursday, Aug. 22 against Glen Rose. The Steers and Lady Blues defeated the Tigers and Lady Tigers with relative ease 14-5.

Two days later on Saturday, Aug. 24, Graham welcomed Brownwood to town where they handled the Lions and Lady Lions by an identical score of 14-5. It was a monumental victory for the tennis team as Graham hasn’t had much success against Brownwood throughout head coach Matt Birdwell’s tenure.

Highlights from these two matches include both Graham’s boys and girls going 6-for-7 in singles matches against Glen Rose. Against Brownwood, the Lady Blues had a clean sweep over the Lady Lions as they won every singles and doubles match they played.
