    Man accused of driving while impaired after chase, crash in Graham

    GRAHAM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man faces multiple charges after a chase and crash on Sunday, according to an NC State Highway Patrol news release.

    At 8:32 p.m., troopers were patrolling Interstate 85 in Alamance County when they saw a black Toyota speeding.

    Troopers measured the speed of the Toyota at 96 miles per hour in a 65-mile-per-hour zone.

    Troopers activated their emergency equipment, lights and sirens. The driver didn’t stop, and a chase started.

    The suspect got off the interstate at NC-87, went through an intersection with a steady red light in his direction and hit another driver.

    The brief chase lasted around two minutes before the suspect crashed. Troopers identified the suspect as Leon Jackson, III, 25 of Durham.

    The driver Jackson hit suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital in Burlington.

    Jackson suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

    Jackson faces:

    • driving while impaired
    • speeding 96 miles per hour in a 65-mile-per-hour zone
    • careless and reckless driving
    • felony flee to elude, possession of a firearm by a felon
    • felony possession of marijuana
    • felony possession with intent to sell and deliver controlled substances
    • felony serious injury

    Troopers cleared the scene at 10:06 p.m
