A vehicle pursuit early Saturday morning ended near the intersection of First Street and Texas Street in Graham when the vehicle went airborne, landed and struck a tree resulting in the deaths of the driver and passenger.

A Young County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a stop for a traffic violation at 1:18 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 on a Dodge Caliber on Elm Street in Graham, according to a release from DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez. The vehicle was driven by Eddric Laquinn Mickle, a 51, of Seguin, who refused to stop and began evading the deputy.

Mickle traveled south on Elm Street and then continued east on First Street. He continued evading law enforcement on First Street and reached speeds of about 70 mph.

“While traveling east on First Street, the suspect vehicle went airborne near the intersection of First Street and Texas Street. The suspect lost control of the vehicle, causing him to go into a side skid and striking a tree on the passenger side,” the release states.

Mickle, who was not wearing a seatbelt when the wreck occurred, was transported to Graham Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the wreck.

The passenger of the vehicle, Kyris Deshone McGraw, 46, of Everman, who was wearing a seatbelt when the wreck occurred, was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained in the wreck.

Narcotics and a 38 Special revolver were located in the vehicle. The narcotics are suspected to be methamphetamine and marijuana. YCSO is leading the criminal investigation, with Texas Highway Patrol Troopers being called in to assist.
