TINY homeowners have revealed they have days to move out after being randomly evicted for seemingly no reason.

A couple living in the Grand Blanc Township mobile home park in Michigan for years said they received a notice with sixty days to leave - and they are not the only ones.

"There's another family that's been here I think they said 8 years that the same thing is going on to. 8 years in one place, you have to be a good renter to do that," Mackenzie Harris told local ABC affiliate WJRT.

Harris currently lives in the tiny home with her partner Davonta Grant.

Both Grant and Harris said they received a letter from the park saying they couldn't renew their lease, without any explanation why.

"Every rent has been paid," said Harris.

"Like there's no issues as far as that is concerned. I keep our home very clean. I definitely take pride in our home, so it's definitely very confusing."

The couple have lived in their tiny home for four years and admit it feels like home to them.

When they asked the leasing manager about the situation, they couldn't shed light on the situation but said they could move into a different home on the property.

"We did everything right. Paid our bills on time, and yet they're coming around to give us the boot with no explanation still," said Grant.

Attorney Greg Abler with the Center for Civil Justice believes what the park is doing could be considered illegal.

"It would be my position that the statue that we are talking about here would require good cause to terminate their tenancy," said Abler.

    LIVING IN LIMBO

Another family admitted that they were evicted without any fault of their own.

Jennifer and Kristopher Miller have lived in their Vancouver home for two years but were told abruptly they had to move out.

“We feel like we’re kind of living in limbo and we’ve been living in limbo since the middle of December,” Jennifer said to CTV in January.

“We don’t know what to do,” Kristopher added.

The couple received a no-fault eviction after the landlord claimed that his son needed to move into the property.

However, Kristopher believes this was not the real reason for the eviction.

“We think it’s suspicious that his son is moving in,” Kristopher said.

“All communication in regards to this house has all been in regards to a rental increase, not that his son has been displaced.”

No-fault evictions allow a landlord to remove a tenant without any cause.

We did everything right. Paid our bills on time, and yet they're coming around to give us the boot with no explanation still.

Attorney Robert Patterson explained this is a common method for landlords in the Vancouver area.

“What it’s caused is a pivot,” Patterson said.

“There is an epidemic of this specific kind of eviction right now in the province.”

Many have taken issue with the process, as it puts tenant's security at risk, according to the Alan Boswell Group.

“The process needs to be fairer, it needs to be more transparent,” he said.

"It needs to give tenants a chance to protect and defend their housing in the middle of a housing and eviction crisis.”
