Grand Haven names first female public safety director
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Five "yes" votes from the Grand Haven City Council gave way to a thunderous applause from the audience on Monday night inside the council chambers. Chief Nichole Hudson was at the center of that applause. The council unanimously voted to approve Hudson as the city's new public safety director, making her the first woman to hold that position.
Coast Guard: Jumping into Lake Michigan could induce shock
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Curran Middleton is stationed at the Grand Haven Coast Guard Post. "It's kind of uncommon, it was around 70, now it's around 50 degrees," said Middleton about Tuesday's water temperatures in Grand Haven. "So, it's a big change in the water temp. WEST MICHIGAN — Several notable court cases are still pending in Ottawa and Allegan counties. James “Jimmy” Richard Beauchamp, 55, of Kentwood, was arrested in December 2023 after a months-long investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Beauchamp is a former employee of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old at a hotel in Grand Haven.
