Jefferson’s Newest Police Officer is a Carroll Native
The Jefferson Police Department recently hired its seventh officer. Trevor Hansen was approved by the City Council at the June 25th meeting as the newest police officer. The 2022 Carroll High School graduate also has an associate degree in criminal justice from Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny and recently worked as a jailer in the Polk County Jail for 1.5 years. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio one of the main reasons for going into a law enforcement career was from when he grew up with domestic violence. Hansen explains why he chose Jefferson to be an officer.

To view a log of the calls for service, click here. Officers responded to a report of theft in the 1200 block of Willis Avenue. The case is under investigation. Officers responded to a report of assault reported in the 1200 block of Paul Street. Crisis Advocacy and Intervention was notified.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn rode in the Tour De Shield616 Minnesota Ride with officers from the northern state to raise awareness and money for rifle rated armor to help police departments. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the benefits it will bring to the unit within Perry.

ADEL, IOWA — Iowa 3rd District Republican Representative Zach Nunn, Wednesday, honored the Dallas County Sheriff and 9-1-1 dispatchers who responded swiftly to the incident at Perry High School on January 4, 2024. He presented the prestigious Iowa Medal of Merit to these dedicated public servants that helped save lives.
A Jefferson Man Arrested Last Week for Allegedly Assaulting a Pregnant Woman
A Jefferson man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman. According to court documents, on July 12th at 7:44pm Jefferson Police Officers responded to a domestic incident in the 500 block of West State Street. When officers arrived on scene, they saw the suspect, 41-year-old Michael Wagoner dragging the pregnant victim out of the home by the hair, while displaying a firearm in a threatening manner at the officers.
