ORR — The Grand Rapids High School fishing team completed the Student Angler Tournament Trail (STATT) series this weekend, and finished in the top-10 once again.

29 teams from around the state sent their top-3 scoring tandems to the STATT Team State tournament on Pelican Lake in Orr. Grand Rapids sent Ryder and Joey Miskovich, Reid and Tyler Johnson, and Drew and Mykah Johnson to Pelican Lake as their top-3, and took eighth place overall. Despite finishing top-10, Grand Rapids head coach Chris Stanley felt they could have positioned themselves higher.

“Respectable, said Stanley.” We finished eighth out of 29. Not what we were hoping for and expecting.”

Grand Rapids will quickly shift their focus to the next major event, the Minnesota Junior BASS Nation State Championship Tournament, being held on the Mississippi River Pools 4-5, in Wabasha over two days on Sep. 7-8.
