Are you or someone you know suffering from heartburn or reflux disease? If so, there’s good news about the treatment options available locally.

Learn more at a “Solutions for Reflux and Heartburn” program on Tues., May 7, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at CoHaus, 680 E. US Highway 2, in Grand Rapids. Dr. Andrew Loveitt, reflux specialist with the Minnesota Reflux and Heartburn Center (MRHC), will provide an overview of the latest advances in diagnostics and treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). He will discuss testing and innovative treatment procedures available at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

GERD is caused by a weak valve between the esophagus and the stomach, which allows acid, bile and stomach contents, to flow into the esophagus. This creates heartburn and can cause damage to the lining of the esophagus, which can lead to esophageal cancer.

A light meal will be served at no charge at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required by April 15. Email healthyliving@riverwoodhealthcare.org or call Riverwood at 218-927-2611.

For information or making an appointment for reflux and heartburn care, call MRHC Clinical Coordinator Dawn Harcey at 218-429-3930. Learn more at riverwoodhealthcare.org, click services, then reflux and heartburn.
