Grand Rapids Speedway held another action-packed night of racing before the 4th of July break and it was a quicker evening of racing with less cautions and more action. This week the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, WISSOTA Pure Stocks, WISSOTA Hornets, WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks and WISSOTA Late Models were competing in the races.

First to start off the features were the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Only three cautions halted the race for minor spin outs. Sam Kolar and Michael Blevins led the pack on the track, and when the green flag flew Kolar stole the initial lead, M. Blevins Sr raced in second, Mikey Blevins raced from starting in sixth to third, Scott Thompson raced in fourth and Justin Feltus hung on to fifth. M. Blevins Sr then looked low on Kolar after a few laps and was not able to get around until two laps later, Mikey Blevins followed up to second until the first caution was thrown when Jerry Morgan spun. The drivers then got green to go and M. Blevins Sr led the pack with Mikey behind in second. Thompson, Kolar, and Mervin Castle then bunched together and battled for third. Castle raced low a few laps until he was able to sneak around the group to steal third. A second caution flag was thrown when two drivers spun in corner four. The field grouped together again and M. Blevins Sr., kept out front of the pack with his son, Mikey right behind. The drivers started to race and secure positions until another caution flag flew. The drivers then got going to finish out the race. M. Blevins Sr., took the checkered flags while Mikey and Castle battled right at the flags for second but Castle was able to sneak by and secure second, Mikey secured third, David Simpson followed in fourth and Justin Feltus rounded off fifth for the evening.

Next were Matt Sparby and Andy LaBarge and the WISSOTA Super Stocks. On green, Dustin Nelson did not wait at all to race up to steal the lead from starting in fourth. LaBarge, Matt Sparby, and Dustin Nelson raced three wide for second until LaBarge out raced the two and stole second. The first caution flag was thrown when Dan Severson spun on the track. The drivers grouped up again but Nelson kept out front with Nelson following in second. LaBarge kept close up front while Maxwell Dondelinger moved his way up the pack as Dylan Nelson challenged Dustin Nelson for the lead back and forth. Dondelinger then inched on LaBarge. Another caution flag was thrown when Severson spun. Dylan Nelson was then out front of the pack with Dustin Nelson not giving it up easily. As the race neared an end, Dalton Carlson made a quick move and was able to secure fourth with Matt Sparby following. Dylan Nelson secured the win, Dustin Nelson, LaBarge, Carlson and Sparby rounded off the top five for the race.

Skeeter Estey and Derek Vessel then led the WISSOTA Late Models onto the track for their race of the evening with no cautions. Estey stole the lead on green while Vesel raced high on the track and challenged until he quickly got around in a few short laps. Jeff Massingill then raced to third, Jeff Provinzino raced to fourth with Johnny Broking also in the mix. Vesel, Estey, Provinzino, Massingill, Kyle Peterlin and Zach Wohlers all raced in the front of the pack battling for positioning. Provinzino then got by Estey, and Massingill followed him to secure third and tried to challenge Provinzino for second but wasn’t able to get it by the checkered flags. Vesel stole the victory for the evening, Provinzino, Massingill, Peterlin, and Estey then rounded off the top five for the drivers.

The Modified then drove onto the track for a quick and caution-less race. Ryan Jensen and Charlie Castle led the drivers around to the green flag and quickly Johnny Broking drove around from starting in the second row and stole the lead. Bob Broking also followed behind and tried to inch on him. Josh Beaulieu raced around Jensen and stole third. Jeffery Wood looked close for a position to pass Jensen, and when he lost control of the car he moved right in. He then went on to pass Beaulieu and was quickly successful. Charlie Castle hung on to fifth. The drivers raced clean and quickly to finish. Johnny Broking, Bob Broking, Wood, Beaulieu, and Castle took home a top five finish for the evening.

Onto the track next for the second to last feature of the evening were the WISSOTA Pure Stocks. After some rough heat races, the WISSOTA Pure Stocks came together to put on a quick show. Justin Barsness and Austin Carlson had a lucky night and started on poll. On green, Barsness stole the initial lead with Carlson looking to move around. Jake Smith and Ethan Elhardt kept close. Chaston Finckbone then looked high for a third spot to steal. Then Carlson, Smith, and Finckbone bunched up together and raced out for positions. Finckbone outraced the bunch and went on to challenge Barsness in the lead. As the race neared Jake Smith fell back in the pack which allowed Bob Klien to secure fifth. Carlson then challenged Barsness with Finckbone and was able to get Barsness to third. Carlson and Finckbone battled for the lead but Finckbone had just enough to steal the win. Finckbone took the checkered flags, Carlson, Barsness, Elhardt, and Klein were top five for the WISSOTA Pure Stocks.

Last to close out the night, Cade Johnson and Michael Lefler led the WISSOTA Hornets onto the track. The Hornets had a rough start with three cautions right away almost back to back for spun drivers. When they finally got a good start, Lefler led with Payson Patrin close in second. A.J House and Tristen McLynn battled side by side for third, as Patrin went on to challenge Lefler for the lead in a couple laps he was able to quickly take it and run. McLynn, House, Lefler and Zeb Graves got close and battled out positioning. A caution flag came out for a spun driver and they bunched back together. McLynn tried to steal the lead from Patrin at the end but he kept him behind to the checkered. House, Leino, and Puidokas took top five for the evening.
