Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson to speak at KMAland libraries
(KMAland) -- KMAland residents can learn more about the crossover between mental health treatment and law enforcement in Iowa this week. That's because Author and Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson is appearing at multiple southwest Iowa libraries this week, discussing his new book, "Anyplace But Here: The Uncomfortable Convergence Between Mental Illness and the Criminal Justice System." Thompson will be at the Red Oak and Clarinda libraries on Wednesday and at the Tabor and Shenandoah libraries on Thursday. Thompson says his inspiration for the book came from his frustration with the state's mental health treatment program and the hope to reform it.
