The National Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) WWII Museum in Sweetwater, Texas, is preparing to honor veteran and avid cyclist Larry Ritland as he embarks on his "WASP Legacy Ride." This remarkable journey, set to take place from September 1 to 28, 2024, will see Ritland cycle from Iowa to Texas in tribute to the Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II. Pre-Season Cross Country Rankings Released
(Area) — The Iowa Association of Track Coaches have released its Team and Individual Pre-Season Rankings for the 2024 season. In Class 1A, ACGC Boys are ranked #3 — the Chargers finished 2nd at last year’s state meet. Lake Mills is #1 followed by Earlham and then the Chargers while Danville and Ankeny Christian round out the top 5 1A boys. Woodbine is 9th and IKM Manning is 17th.
After Cuts Alpha Relaunches Local Morning Show In Iowa
Joe Swanson, who served as cluster Production Director while hosting middays on Country 95.9 KCOB-FM and afternoons on KRTI until exiting in the May cuts, has returned to the cluster to host mornings with Sarah Jorges. Jorges, who also works as an Account Executive at the cluster, had remained in her off-air role following the staff purge. She previously spent eight years in mornings with former Program Director Jaime Grout.

Neumann Brothers accepting applications for 2024 Heart Fund grants
Neumann Brothers Inc., a Des Moines-based general contractor, is now accepting applications for its annual Neumann Heart Fund grant program. The employee-led charitable initiative will award $20,000 to Central Iowa nonprofits this coming October. Iowa nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax status and missions addressing homelessness, food insecurity and first-responder support are encouraged to apply. Applications are reviewed and scored by an internal committee of Neumann employees. “The Heart Fund is led by the ‘heart’ of our organization — our employees — and the issues prevalent in the communities we work in,” said Mike Simpson, president and CEO of Neumann, in a prepared statement. To apply, complete a brief online form on Neumann’s website. Applications are due Sept. 13.
TS Bank, Advance Southwest Iowa hosting REV competition
(Treynor) -- Applications are sought for a small business pitch competition in southwest Iowa. TS Bank is once again partnering with Advance Southwest Iowa Corporation and other local companies to offer $15,000 to one or more local entrepreneurs through REV, a small business pitch competition. The competition has distributed over $138,000 since it began in 2015. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Show" program recently, TS Bank Director of Public Relations Kelsey Stupfell says the program is a chance to help ensure small businesses are set up for long-term growth and sustainability.
