Celebrate community spirit with July 4th fun, local history and summer events in Forestville
Join the celebration in the middle of town Thursday, July 4 at Forestville Downtown Oaks Park from noon to 5 p.m. It's put on by our event-producing, fun-loving Chamber. Live music will set the mood, then enjoy BBQed hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, macaroni salad, coleslaw and other food vendors. Wendi will have one of her special spiked punches along with beer and wine. The kiddos will have a jumpy house to play in and face painting too. Stop by and let the Chamber do the cooking that day! Here’s the plan for the Fourth of July fireworks show in town next Thursday, courtesy of Healdsburg City Manager Jeff Kay:. “This year’s display promises to be bigger and brighter than ever before! To ensure everyone’s safety, viewing at the High School sports fields will be unavailable. However, you can still catch the spectacular fireworks from the west side of the Healdsburg High School in the parking lot area, or from various vantage points around town. With most fireworks reaching heights of 200 feet and beyond, find a spot with a clear view of the night sky above the High School.”

Heatwave to Leave Several Customers in North Bay Without Power (But Not Sonoma County)
The incoming heatwave could cause a lot of stress to the grid. The potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event is anticipated to begin early Tuesday morning and could last through Wednesday. It affects approximately 12,000 customers, including two tribal governments, in targeted parts of eight counties. In the North Bay, it would be 49 customers in Lake County and 9 in Napa, so 58 total. 96 customers in Solano County may also lose power.
Petaluma Bus and Transit Services are Now Free to All for a Year
Bus services in Petaluma are now free. The city began a one year pilot program yesterday during which all Petaluma Transit services will be completely fare-free. No tickets, no passes, no cash – just show up and ride. Paratransit clients can schedule their trips as they have done in the past, but a fare will no longer be required for their Petaluma Transit paratransit trip. The goal of this program is to promote Petaluma Transit’s network of services, alleviate the financial burden of low-income riders, improve access, and meet the rigorous climate goals set forth by the City.

Artstart, an organziation that creates art around Sonoma County, needs your help painting a new mural in the South Park neighborhood of Santa Rosa. The mural, which is funded by Santa Rosa’s Small Business Support Program, will appear on The Hattery, a local hat store. The Hattery is located at 1240 Petaluma Hill Road.
