News Bites for July 22... … NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association, which is a key player in the tower industry, is encouraging Congress to pass H.R. 3413, aka the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. The bill would require automakers to include AM radio in new vehicles. “At a time when communication is critical, efforts to remove AM radio from vehicles will threaten the safety of our workforce,” President/CEO Todd Schlekeway in remarks provided by the organization.

Former St. Vincent de Paul College Prep Teacher Finally Gets His Last Payday
A former St. Vincent de Paul College Prep teacher who sued for his last month’s wages has been paid. Kenneth Blake tells the Petaluma Argus-Courier that he received his final payment last Monday from the Diocese of Santa Rosa. The former government and psychology teacher said it shouldn’t have come to a lawsuit, but was also, quote, “glad in the end they did the right thing.” The Diocese of Santa Rosa relinquished control of the school to an independent board. However, they refused to issue payment to Blake and other outgoing faculty members for their last month of work at the school, causing Blake to sue. At least three other teachers have since been paid their final wages.

Vehicle Vandalism Case in Santa Rosa Leads to Firearms Arrest
A reported vehicle vandalism in Santa Rosa leads to a firearms arrest instead. Early Sunday morning, police went to the area of Burt Street responding to a vandalism complaint by the victim. The victim described the suspects and officers later found subjects who fit the description in a car. After pulling the vehicle over, officers discovered that one of the people in the car, 22 year-old Leopoldo Herrera, was on probation and could be searched. As a result, they found a loaded Ruger .45 caliber handgun. Herrera was charged with three firearm related crimes but no arrests were made for the vandalism.
