Lafourche, Terrebonne officials offer caveats, help with new concealed carry firearms law
A law allowing concealed carrying of firearms by most people over 18 in Louisiana took effect less than a month ago, with no related issues reported by local law enforcement. While not expressing opposition to the law, local law enforcement leaders are nonetheless hoping that firearms owners wishing to carry concealed will avail themselves of training to ensure the safety of themselves and others.

The Thibodaux Recreation Department has announced the “Chalk it Up” sidewalk chalk art contest, scheduled for Thursday, August 1. The art event, held at the Peltier Park Recreation Pavilion, is open to participants ages four to sixteen and promises a fun and creative experience for the whole community.
Fat Boy Phillies brings soul food to Southland Mall with new restaurant location
A Houma-based food truck has branched out with a second location inside Southland Mall. Fat Boy Phillies opened a restaurant inside the mall Friday, July 12. The restaurant is where Chick-Fil-A used to be, next to Pocket Change. It was opened by K.J. Townsend, a Houma chef. More than 40 people were waiting Friday to place their first orders.

Louisiana Versus Litter: The Litter Hotline
It's no surprise that Shreveport has been in a battle against litter, earlier this year Shreveport Police Department announced they had made their first litter-related arrest. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, along with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), and Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) are launching a statewide program to fight back against litter.
