    Great Bend woman seriously injured in crash with semi

    PRATT COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — A woman from Great Bend was seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Pratt County.

    According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 1:11 p.m., a 71-year-old man from Great Bend was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on U.S. Route 281 in Iuka. With him was a 91-year-old woman also from Great Bend.

    At the same time, a 72-year-old man from Iuka was driving a 1995 Freightliner pulling a trailer also southbound on U.S. Route 281.

    The KHP says as the Equinox was turning onto Summer Street, the Freightliner ran into the back of it.

    The Equinox came to a stop on Summer Street. The Freightliner came to a stop facing southeast in the middle of U.S. Route 281.

    The driver of the Equinox had minor injuries. His passenger, the 91-year-old woman, had serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

    The driver of the Freightliner had no apparent injuries.
