Former Packers player's family "lucky to be alive" after home catches on fire

Former Green Bay Packers receiver Randall Cobb and his family safely escaped their home after it caught on fire.

"We are lucky to be alive," Cobb's wife, Aiyda Cobb , said in a story on Instagram. The Tesla charger caught on fire in the garage late last night and quickly spread. We got out of our house with nothing but the clothes on our back and no shoes on our feet."

Kyle Malzhan of WFRV shared a screenshot of the story on his X account, offering prayers to the Cobb family. No further updates have been provided regarding the incident. The home had been featured in a 2001 issue of Architectural Digest .

Cobb was drafted by the Packers in 2011 and played with the team until 2018. He was named to the Pro Football Writers Association's (PFWA) All-Rookie Team in 2011 and played in the Pro Bowl in 2014.

After a season with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans, Cobb was traded back to Green Bay at the request of Aaron Rodgers. In 2023, he played with the New York Jets. Although he hasn't retired, Cobb has revealed that he hasn't seen interest from any NFL teams.

"Everybody ages out of this league at some point," Cobb said on the Bussin' with the Boys podcast. "A matter of when, how. I’m kind of in that position now, if I want to go out on my own terms, I can. And I’ll be happy."
