Former NFL Star Shares Bold Packers, Jordan Love Prediction

There are going to be some good training camp battles to watch on the Green Bay Packers next week. However, the biggest storyline for the team involves their quarterback, Jordan Love.

The backup job behind Jordan Love is going to be something people keep an eye on throughout camp. Will Sean Clifford or Michael Pratt win the job, or will the Packers have to bring in a veteran?

A veteran could be needed should Jordan Love decide not to report. Awaiting a new contract from the team, no indication has been given that the 2020 first-round pick will be a holdout, but things could always change.

The Packers have said that getting a deal completed with their franchise quarterback before training camp was always the goal. With a week left, time is ticking before that timeline expires.

There have been plenty of guesses about how much money the Packers could give Jordan Love. Was the contract Jared Goff signed earlier this offseason, averaging $53 million annually, a new baseline?

In the opinion of former NFL wide receiver turned analyst, Plaxico Burress, that is a little low. On a recent segment of The Carton Show on FS1, Burress revealed a bold take on how he believes negotiations will unfold.

“The Green Bay Packers are going to make this man the highest-paid quarterback in football,” Burress predicted when speaking about the negotiations with Jordan Love.

The claim to the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL is currently held by two players. Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals signed his record-setting deal last offseason and Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars tied it this offseason.

Both are paid $55 million annually, while Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has the largest contract at $450 million. Based on Burress’s prediction, Love is going to sign a deal worth north of $275 million.

That is a lot of money for a player who has one season of starting experience under their belt. But, if the Packers don’t sign Jordan Love now, they risk that price going up even more, as the market is only going to rise.
