Classic rock legends Aerosmith have announced their return to the road after postponing their “Peace Out” farewell tour last year due to Steven Tyler's larynx fracture.

Inspired by British rock acts like The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith formed in Boston in 1970, developing a hard rock sound and dynamic live performances that led to a recording contract with Columbia Records in 1972. Their self-titled debut album in 1973 featured the hit single "Dream On," marking the beginning of their rise to fame.

Aerosmith's third album, Toys in the Attic (1975), is one of their most successful records in the U.S., selling over 8 million copies and featuring iconic songs like "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way." Their fourth album, Rocks (1976), expanded their sound to include heavy metal and was both a commercial and critical success.

However, the band's intense work cycle and substance abuse issues led to internal strife. Guitarist Joe Perry left during the making of their sixth album in 1979, followed by guitarist Brad Whitford in 1981. Despite continuing with new members, Aerosmith's popularity waned.

The original members reunited in 1984, and their collaboration with Run-DMC on a revamped "Walk This Way" in 1986 revived their career, introducing them to a new generation of fans. This success was bolstered by the song's music video on MTV.

In 1998, 25 years after their debut, Aerosmith secured their first Number One single on Billboard with "I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing." They continued to release successful albums and tour globally. In 2019, they began a concert residency in Las Vegas and a tour for their 50th anniversary.

Aerosmith, the best-selling American hard rock band, has sold over 150 million records worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. The band’s influence is evident in acts like Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and The Struts.

The rock legends will perform at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center on Oct. 2, with all previously purchased tickets honored. Ticketholders will receive further information via email.
