CAKE, the alternative rock band known for their eclectic musical style and distinctive sound, will be making three stops in North Carolina during their latest tour.

Formed in 1991 in Sacramento, California, CAKE consists of John McCrea (vocals, guitar), Xan McCurdy (guitar), Gabe Nelson (bass), Vincent DiFiore (trumpet, keyboards, vocals), and Paulo Baldi (drums). The band has released six albums, including "Motorcade of Generosity" (1994), "Fashion Nugget" (1996), "Prolonging the Magic" (1998), "Comfort Eagle" (2001), "Pressure Chief" (2004), and "Showroom of Compassion" (2011).

Their unique sound, often classified as alternative or indie rock, combines funk, pop, jazz, rap, and country, with droll lyrics, catchy guitar riffs, and a solo trumpet. CAKE has seen considerable success on American alternative radio, with nine singles appearing on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart between 1993 and 2011. Their biggest hits include “The Distance”, “Never There”, “Sheep Go to Heaven”, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Lifestyle”, “No Phone”, “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”, and their alternative remake of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”.

The band’s latest album, "Showroom of Compassion", was released on January 11, 2011, and recorded at the Upbeat Studio in Sacramento with recording engineer Pat Olguin. Despite lineup changes over the years, CAKE has maintained its signature sound and continued to captivate audiences with its clever wordplay and unique musical fusion.

CAKE will perform at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on August 6, at the Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre in Charlotte on August 7, and at Rabbit Rabbit in Asheville on August 8. For more information and tickets, you can visit their website.
