Crews from Greenville Fire-Rescue responded to a fire at an automotive shop near Sadie Saulter Pre-K Center early Wednesday morning.

Bryant Beddard, battalion chief and fire marshal for Greenville Fire-Rescue, said 24 personnel responded to a call that was received about 6 a.m. to Komplete Auto Repair and Body Shop, 308 Spruce Street.

The area is between Myrtle Street and West 14th Avenue.

Crews were on scene until after 8 a.m. where they continued to douse the building with water. Beddard said that the fire was limited to the automotive shop. Greenville Fire-Rescue's Fire Investigation Unit was on scene shortly after 8 a.m. but Beddard said crews had not had a chance to set foot inside the building at the time of this report.

The building's interior appeared significantly damaged.

Beddard said it was unclear if anyone was inside the building at the time of the fire. The automotive shop's online hours said it opens at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays.

The building is appraised at $99,549 and sits on .35 acres of land valued at $45,738 according to Pitt County tax records.

    This is a developing story.
