This spring, soon after football coach Darryl Overton announced he was starting a “New legacy” at Hayfield Secondary School, the school’s director of student services, Erin Crowley, and an assistant principal, Carmen Lofton Johnson, rang the alarm bell with the school’s principal, Darin Thompson, about a rush of students transferring to Hayfield with curious paperwork.
