    Gulf Coast Fourth of July closures (List)

    MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — As Independence Day approaches, many city offices and programs are closing.

    WKRG News 5 is keeping a running list of closures within the coverage area.

    We will update this list as we receive more information from cities and towns.

    Alabama

    Gulf Shores: According to a press release, the following facilities in Gulf Shores will close or have their regular hours of operation changed.

    The following offices and facilities will close:

    • Administrative offices
    • The Thomas B. Norton Public Library
    • The Gulf Shores Museum
    • The Cultural Center
    • The George C. Meyer Tennis Center will be closed, although courts will remain open for public use
    • The City Store

    The following will change hours or dates:

    • The Bodenhamer Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and there will be no classes held on the Fourth of July
    • Republic Services Garbage and Recycling Services will run as scheduled, but yard debris/ bulky pickup will be rescheduled (services scheduled on July 4 will run on Wednesday, July 3)

    Police, fire, and other emergency services will remain open for the holiday.

    Foley: Foley city offices will be closed July 4 and 5 for the Independence Day holidays.

    Prichard: Those who ordinarily receive Thursday garbage pick-up service instead received it one day early, Wednesday.

    Spanish Fort: The Spanish Fort city hall, library and senior center will be closed July 4.

    Florida

    Escambia County : County officials said these offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4:

    • Escambia County Board of County Commissioners ( all departments )
    • West Florida Public Libraries ( all locations )
    • Escambia County Property Appraiser
    • Escambia County Tax Collector
    • Escambia County Supervisor of Elections
    • Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare
    • Escambia County Extension Office
    • Waste Services Administration
    • Escambia County Area Transit Administration and Customer Service

    Here are some exceptions in Escambia County for July 4:

    • Perdido Landfill will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and normal operations will resume on Friday, July 5.
    • The Clerk’s offices located at the M.C. Blanchard Judicial Building, Theodore Bruno Juvenile Justice Building, Public Records Center and the Century Courthouse will be closed Friday, July 5. The Clerk’s Official Records, Finance, Treasury and Clerk to the Board offices located at 221 Palafox Place will be open.
    • ECAT buses and UWF trolleys will not run on Thursday, July 4, but normal operations will resume on Friday, July 5.

    Fort Walton Beach:

    The City of Fort Walton Beach offices and facilities will have modified hours this week during the Fourth of July holiday. All offices and facilities will resume normal operating hours on Monday, July 8.

    • City Hall, Customer Service and Growth Management offices: closed July 4-5
    • Library: closed July 4-6
    • Heritage Park and Cultural Center: closed July 4-5 (re-open Saturday, July 6)
    • Recreation Center: closed July 4-6

    There will be no change to Police, Fire, and Sanitation services, and the Fort Walton Beach Golf Course will remain open during the holiday period.

    Milton: All City of Milton offices will be closed July 4.

    Niceville: All City of Niceville offices will be closed July 4 and 5.

    Pensacola: The following City of Pensacola offices and facilities will be closed Thursday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday.


    Exceptions:


    Sanitation Service Changes:

    Some City Sanitation customers will experience a change of schedule the week of July 1, with Thursday services occurring one day earlier than their normal pickup day. This only applies to City of Pensacola Sanitation customers.

    • Monday garbage, yard waste and bulk will see no change.
    • Tuesday garbage, yard waste and bulk will see no change.
    • Thursday garbage, yard waste and bulk will be collected Wednesday, July 3.
    • Friday customers will see no change.

    Santa Rosa County : According to a press release, the following offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4, for Independence Day.

    • Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners
      • Animal Shelter
      • Central Landfill
      • Library System
      • Veterans Services
    • Santa Rosa County Clerk of the Court, Comptroller Office (also closed July 5)
    • Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser (also closed July 5)
    • Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections (also closed July 5)
    • Santa Rosa County Tax Collector (also closed July 5)
    • All Santa Rosa County Libraries

    The release notes that Santa Rosa County 9-1-1 dispatch, the Lifeguard Ambulance Service, and the fire departments are open daily and will not be closed on the Fourth of July holiday.

    The Santa Rosa County Addressing Department is closed today, July 3 through Friday, July 5. Addressing will be open for normal business hours on Mon., July 8.

    Pensacola : According to a press release, the following offices and facilities in the City of Pensacola will be closed in observance of Independence Day:

    • City of Pensacola administrative offices
    • City Hall
    • City of Pensacola community resource centers
    • Roger Scott Tennis Center

    The release also noted that there will be schedule changes to the Sanitation Service for the holiday:

    • Monday garbage, yard waste, and bulk will see no change.
    • Tuesday garbage, yard waste, and bulk will see no change.
    • Thursday garbage, yard waste, and bulk will be collected on Wednesday, July 3.
    • Friday customers will see no change.

    Mississippi

    Lucedale: City Hall and municipal offices will be closed July 4 and 5, 2024. The city resumes normal business hours on Monday, July 8.

    The Lucedale Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, July 6.

    Pascagoula : Officials announced that some libraries are set to close in observance of Independence Day.

    According to a press release, all Jackson-George Regional Library System branches will be closed on Thursday, July 4.

    Book drops will be open for returning items despite the closure and online services will be available, the release noted.
