One goal of the Barton County Health Department is determining the needs of county residents and assessing whether or not those needs are being met by area healthcare providers. Mental health remains one of the largest problem areas. Unauthorized burn pile fire destroys shed and damages camper in Saline County
An unauthorized fire sparked a blaze that engulfed a shed and damaged a nearby property in the 1800 block of Old 40 Highway Monday evening. At 5:15 p.m. yesterday evening, a Saline County Sheriff's Deputy on patrol spotted smoke in the vicinity of where the fire was located. Man arrested after baby found in I-135 canal in south Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 34-year-old man has been booked into jail after an 11-month-old girl was rescued from the I-135 canal in south Wichita. Sedgwick County Jail records show Vincent Perez was booked late Wednesday morning for aggravated child endangerment, aggravated battery, a state hold and a parole violation.

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A teenager has pleaded no contest in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy inside a Wichita mall in 2022. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said 18-year-old Te'bryis Robinson on Tuesday pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery. Manhattan City sewer maintenance crews are performing large sewer line maintenance this week. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This work will be in the 300 and 400 blocks of 3rd Street and 4th Street, from Bluemont Avenue to Fort Riley Boulevard.
