Reminder: Free Concert Tomorrow at Greene County High School Auditorium
A reminder that a free concert is being held tomorrow in Jefferson. The Brown Family is from LeMars, Iowa and the award winning ensemble is going to perform a free show at the Greene County High School auditorium Sunday at 2pm. The show will be the “Americana Music and Patriotic Salute.” The event is sponsored by the Greene County Veterans Affairs Office and the Greene County Veterans Commission.
Reminder: 2nd Annual Porch Fest in Jefferson is Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Jefferson and surrounding residents are invited to watch live music in a unique atmosphere. Jefferson Matters Tower View Team and Jefferson Telecom are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Porch Fest, where musicians will be performing on four porches in Jefferson, leading up to a final concert at Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County. Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn encourages anyone who wants to go to bring their own lawn chairs, food or drinks to each performance, with the first one taking place at 1:30pm.

Greene County Supervisors Will Meet Tomorrow Morning
The Greene County Supervisors will meet tomorrow morning. The Board will hear updates from Greene County Development Corporation, the Greene County Career Academy and a mid-year review of the county’s health insurance plan. They will also consider approving the County Recorder’s quarterly report of fees, a bill of sale for the acquisition of the communication tower from Midland Power Cooperative, and terminating the 28E agreement with the city of Jefferson from 2000 about the animal shelter. Additionally, the Board will consider for approval the disabled veteran homestead credit applications, a resolution to transfer $150,000 from the debt service fund to Midland Power for the new law enforcement center administration building, and hiring two part-time positions, one as a dispatcher and one as an Emergency Medical Technician.
KCG receives federal tax credits for proposed affordable housing project
The affordable housing project proposed for the 400 block of W. Head St in Jefferson is much closer to being constructed. The Iowa Finance Authority announced July 3 that developer KCG has been approved to receive $1,281,139 in federal housing tax credits for the project, known as The Wheldon. KCG’s application calls for 50 units.
