Boys’ basketball kept busy this Summer
Greene County head boys’ basketball coach Chris Nelson told Raccoon Valley Radio that although most of his players on the 2024-25 team were involved in other sports and activities, they managed to keep their hands on a basketball in the off-season as well. “We did mainly Monday and Wednesday morning workouts. We worked on shooting, ball handling, just different skill work. We worked on some plays, both offensively and defensively, and had some guys do Summer League over in Carroll, and did pretty well with that. We also did a Team Camp, and held Open Gyms every other Sunday just to keep a ball in their hands and improving.”

Youth Pickleball and Junior High Cheerleading Camp with Jefferson Parks and Rec
The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department has more youth programs coming up soon. According to JPRD kids that are going to be second through sixth graders this fall are invited to the first ever pickleball program for youth. Participants will learn about basics of the sport such as scoring, the rules and court strategies. The program will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, August 12th, 14th, and 16th from 10-11:30am at the Greene County Community Center. The cost is $15 for community center members and $20 for non-members. The deadline to register is Friday, August 9th.
