New Jersey State Police have found a 23-year-old man wanted in a stabbing in Hardwick late Tuesday evening.

State Police said around 10:20 p.m., troopers responded to a home on Meadow Cliff Lane in Hardwick Township for a report of a stabbing, the agency posted on Facebook Wednesday morning. The area is near White Lake in Hardwick and just near the Stillwater Township border in Sussex County.

The suspect, identified as Nelson Ariel Orellana-Vargas, fled prior to police arrival, according to police.

Sussex County residents were "cautioned" that police were searching for the suspect in phone calls and texts through the Sussex County Sheriff's Office mass notification system Wednesday morning. The office noted the suspect was last seen on foot.
