Toccoa Fugitive Turns Himself In Following 24-Hour Manhunt
Montavious Cantrell Winkfield, 37, of Toccoa, is in custody at the Stephens County Jail after being arrested late this afternoon, July 2, in Lavonia. Winkfield was the subject of a multi-agency manhunt on July 1 following an officer-involved shooting that resulted from Winkfield allegedly firing a firearm five times at law enforcement officials during a traffic stop.

An Anderson man has been charged in the death of his wife, according to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. According to Carrie Miller with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, detectives with the ACSO charged Edwin Brainerd Jr., 79, of Anderson, with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

A Texas man is facing charges in Lavonia after he allegedly rammed his truck into a monument downtown.
